About Pauline
Looking closely, without judging quickly
I am Pauline Bos, psychologist NIP and educational psychologist. For more than 25 years I have worked with people, behaviour and the stories people have come to believe about themselves.
Background
More than 25 years of experience
In those years I held thousands of conversations within assessments, selection procedures, career reviews and psychological evaluations. I worked among others for police, defence and other organisations where people carry a lot of responsibility and have to perform under pressure.
That background taught me that someone can look strong and successful from the outside while a great deal is grating on the inside. People can keep going for a long time on discipline, responsibility and loyalty. Sometimes so long that they no longer really know what they feel or want themselves.

People value that I get to the heart of things quickly without simplifying their story.
What I see quickly
Connecting what is going on
My strength lies in connecting information. How do your current symptoms relate to your way of thinking, your life history, your relationships and the choices you have made? Which qualities help you, and when did those same qualities start working against you?
I listen carefully, but I do not only follow. I ask further, make connections and name what stands out to me.
My approach is active, personal and focused. First we understand what is going on. Then we choose together what fits. I use EMDR, ACT, cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focused techniques among others, but the method never stands above the person.
- Understand first, choose a method after that
- Thinking along actively rather than only following
- An understandable explanation, not a label for the sake of a label
- Checking together, regularly, whether the direction still holds
- Being honest when another practitioner is a better fit
A session
What a session looks like
A thorough intake takes 75 to 90 minutes, a follow up session 60 minutes.
- 1
We start with where you are now
Short and concrete: how has the past period been, what stood out, has anything shifted since last time?
- 2
We choose what to work on
Sometimes a recurring pattern, sometimes a specific situation or an experience that still carries a charge. We make it concrete enough to work with.
- 3
We do the work
Whatever fits: a deeper conversation, an exercise from ACT or CBT, or EMDR when an earlier experience still holds a lot of influence.
- 4
We close calmly
I check how you are doing and we talk through what the next few days may bring. You do not leave halfway through processing something.
